Drenched, but drying

You might mistake my lack of recent updates for project fatigue, when in fact it has more to do with tech woes. I haven't had my own computer in a while, and the ones we've got to work with don't work so well with photo uploads.

A lot going on in-house that's gone undocumented. Among the long-termers, Marte now works for a Zona Sul pub crawl and may finally have discovered her partying limits. Francisco got a job (hooray!) working in a Spanish restaurant. Several of the 'boys are prepping for upcoming interviews... I think it's the rain that's responsible for this madness. We haven't had a beach day yet in June, going on 3 weeks since the last quality one, and that's got us all a little off-kilter.

One of our all-timers, Sebastien, ships out tomorrow toward Easter Island. Tonight's Caipirinha Class is a toast to he and his unique being; the only Polish-speaking, mankini-wearing, dog-loving pump-turner-offer Aussie we're likely ever to have as a guest. Big Havianas to fill.

And that reminds me: we have a whole new cast of long-termers, not at all like last season's cast. We consider anyone who sticks around for at least a month a long-termer, and here's the list of the newest members of that club:

- Scott, who is on his way toward the 2 month, 2,000 beer mark

- Jose, from Peru, who is studying in the city

- Urko, Spaniard, who will probably check out one day in handcuffs

- Lua, probably Argentine, lured in by Francisco, also a student

- Bruno, Mexican volleyball player, club scene guru, back for a month despite once being kicked out of here

- Julian, tattoo-artist-musician-younger-brother-of-Francisco, who it turns out is a good worker, so we're gonna get along just fine

... and of course Marlon and Susan and Marte are still here, Suka and Paul work the nights, Thiago and Rafa lend a hand as well. That's 13 people who more or less live here, not counting Freddy and I, Eva and Priscilla or Gabe. That's 18 people, and then Victor is here the majority of every day hanging around, so that's 19 pax without any traditional backpacker guests. That means only when we are completely full, jam-packed do the traditional backpacker guests control the atmosphere.

But they are here, too. And after yesterday's de-bugging efforts, I'm expecting a good month to launch us into July. All we're missing is that Rio sunshine, but it can't be long now.
